The band began competing in 1970 and despite such a relatively short history, it has seen many successes, resulting in a reputation and status that is wholly unique. In May 1999, the Girls celebrated their 40th anniversary with a re-union concert, tracing over a hundred ex-players, all of whom were invited to attend as either a player or member of the audience.
In more recent times, the Trinity Girls Brass Band has experienced its most successful period, both in concert and on the contest stage. Having been browned North West Regional Champions in 2003 and 2006 the band qualified to compete in the National Finals in Dundee and Harrogate. As a result the band was promoted to the 3rd section. Nationally, its highest ever ranking in the bands history. Most recently the band has been privileged to play for Her Majesty the Queen on her visit to Wigan.
